NH35 vs NH34 vs VK63: Which Movement Is Right for You?

Seitona | Panda — Watcheray watch guide

Choose NH35 for automatic time-and-date simplicity, NH34 for an automatic watch with a GMT hand, or VK63 for a battery-powered chronograph. The right choice follows the function you want and how you expect to wear the watch.

These are movement names, not interchangeable descriptions of every Watcheray model. Check the named calibre on the product page; one collection can include more than one type.

NH35: time and date in an automatic watch

The NH35 is a mechanical movement with automatic winding and a manual-winding option. It stores energy in a mainspring rather than using a battery. If it is left unworn long enough for that stored energy to run down, it stops and needs winding and setting again.

It suits a buyer who enjoys a mechanical watch and wants an uncluttered everyday function set. You do not have to use a second time zone or a stopwatch to enjoy the design.

Seikojust | Olive Green and Seikomariner | Black are listed NH35 examples with different case styling. Compare their individual dimensions and options rather than assuming the movement determines their fit.

NH34: an automatic movement with a GMT hand

The NH34 adds a separately adjustable 24-hour hand. Read against a 24-hour scale, it can help you follow another time zone while the main hands show your usual time. Its operation differs from a travel GMT that jumps the local hour hand independently.

Consider whether you will actually check another time zone: family abroad, an international colleague or a regular destination can make the extra hand useful. A GMT bezel and hand also add visual information, so compare legibility as well as appearance.

GMTeiko | Bruce Wayne is an NH34 example. The wider GMTeiko collection also contains other designs; read the movement and functions of the particular watch you select.

VK63: a meca-quartz chronograph

The VK63 uses a battery and quartz timekeeping with a mechanical-style chronograph action. The stopwatch’s central hand advances in fifth-second steps and resets with the characteristic quick action of this movement family. This is the chronograph hand, separate from the small running-seconds display.

It is a good option to explore if you want a stopwatch layout and battery operation. It does not wind itself through wrist movement. Battery replacement is part of ownership, and the correct battery and handling procedure should be checked for the movement.

The VK63’s 24-hour subdial indicates the main time on a 24-hour cycle; it is not a separately set second time zone. That is an important difference from the NH34. The Seitona | Panda is a listed VK63 model; browse the Seitona collection for other designs and check their individual specifications.

Which one matches your routine?

  • You want a simple mechanical daily watch: start by comparing NH35 models.
  • You regularly follow another time zone: explore NH34 GMT models.
  • You want stopwatch functions and battery operation: compare VK63 chronographs.
  • You rotate watches often: decide whether resetting an unworn automatic suits your routine.

A movement choice does not determine water resistance, case size, bracelet quality or the warranty. Those belong to the complete watch and its listed specifications. If a product combines an unfamiliar layout with a movement name, ask us about its functions before ordering.

Common questions

Is VK63 an automatic movement?

No. It is battery powered. The mechanical-style chronograph feel does not make it self-winding.

Does a GMT hand work as a stopwatch?

No. Following another time zone and measuring elapsed time are different functions.

Is every Watcheray watch fitted with one of these three?

No. Other calibres appear in the range, including Miyota movements in listed Seikodate models. Read the exact product description.
